Good Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars: EVOO Marketplace

You’ve been to wineries and breweries for tastings, but our guess is  that you’ve never been to a place offering olive oil and balsamic vinegar tastings.  We hadn’t either. EVOO Marketplace (15th and Market) offers just that, and, though at first we thought the concept of going to a store and tasting olive oils and balsamic vinegars was kind of gross, we were quickly put in our place after tasting their phenomenal products.

All of the products we sampled were incredibly delicious and many of them were unique. In addition to traditional balsamic vinegars such as 12 and 18 year-old aged ones, some of the more unique flavors include Peach, Black Cherry, Raspberry, and Cinnamon Pear.  They are all awsome.  The olive oil flavors are just as Good.  You can choose from various imported traditional styles as well as flavors such as Basil, Roasted Walnut, Chipotle, and Persian Lime.

Tasting the flavors alone was enough to motivate us to buy a bottle.  But combine them together, and you’ve got several matches made in Heaven.  Seriously–mix ‘em together! Our favorite combo was the Chipotle olive oil mixed with the 18 year Traditional balsamic.  We were told we would get the flavor of the balsamic, and then six seconds later we would get the kick of the Chipotle olive oil.  That surprisingly turned out to be exactly true–you get the wonderful taste of the aged balsamic followed six seconds later with the kick of the Chipotle.  Delicious!  If you are more of a citrus person, try the Persian Lime olive oil with the Peach balsamic.  The Blood Orange olive oil and the Cinnamon Pear balsamic is an equally zesty mix.

Apparently what makes these oils and vinegars so Good is the fact that their flavors are “fused” instead of “infused.”  You can learn more about that here.  Whether you choose to branch out and try some of the more unique flavors or you stick to the more traditional products, you will not be disappointed with EVOO Marketplace.  It all is wonderful.
