Good Denver New Years Events
Spending New Year’s Eve in Denver and wondering what to do? Here are five options for you.
1. Yonder Mountain String Band will close out its year with a three-day set of concerts in Boulder and Denver. The series will start on December 29 with a set opened by G. Love at the Boulder Theater, and will continue in Denver at the Fillmore on the 30 and 31, culminating for a New Year’s Eve show. More information can be found at www.livenation.com.
2. The Downtown Denver Partnership has two fireworks displays planned for 9pm and 12pm on the 16th St. Mall. Thousands of people are expected to be on the mall to witness the fireworks, comedians, magicians, and stilt-walkers planned for the evening, not to mention hopping in and out of the bars and restaurants there that will be having special NYE events.
3. The Ritz-Carleton will be having its eighth-annual White Rose NYE Gala spanning the entire second floor of the only 5-star hotel in Denver. In addition to a champagne toast at midnight, from 9pm-2am there will be a full top shelf open bar for $135. At midnight, there will be a Guiness Book of World Records attempt for the largest New Year’s kiss. Revelers are asked to wear black tie, a white outfit, or a formal outfit with a white accent. No jeans will be allowed.
4. For $30 you can get a general admission ticket to the Denver New Year’s Ball at the Sheraton and then split bottle service ($100 for a bottle of Smirnoff) with some of your friends to get essentially the same experience as the White Rose Gala for a bit cheaper–and you’d be downtown.
5. Of course, perhaps the most economical and most enjoyable way of ringing in the new year might be by celebrating with friends and family at someone’s home. To assist supplying your party, Argonaut Wine and Liquor is open until 11:45pm.
Whatever you choose to do–be safe!
