Good Food and Beer: Vine St. Pub
Vine St. Pub (17th and Vine St.) might just be the quintessential Denver pub with its host of Good food, Good beer, Good music, Good deals, and Good people. Though it is a Denver pub, it really represents Colorado more than Denver itself. After all, Vine St. Pub is the third pub in the Mountain Sun Family. The Mountain Sun Pub and Brewery on Pearl St. in Boulder started in 1993 and quickly became very successful–so successful that they created the Southern Sun, an even bigger version of the Mountain Sun on Broadway in Boulder. Thankfully both were highly successful, which made way for Vine St. Pub in Denver–and we couldn’t be happier with it. Why?
-Vine St. has Good food.
Vine St. has a wide selection of foods that are sure to please diners of all types. They feature eleven burger choices, including the S.O.B. Burger (green chiles, jalapenos, bacon, and jack and cheddar cheeses), the Basil Blue Cheeseburger (bleu cheese/basil dressing and a large fresh basil leaf), and a Black Bean Burger (with salsa, guacamole, and chips). If you’re in a south-of-the-border mood, definitely try the Spicy Pollo Asada Burrito (grilled and marinated chicken, black beans, rice, cheese, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, chili sauce, and jalapenos)–order it “Christmas style” for a mix of red chili and green chili. If you’re a vegetarian (or even if you’re not), the Tempeh Reuben (“beer baked tempeh,” sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, tomato, and vegan 1000 Island dressing on rye) is Good. Every day there are also specials–listen to them and order them often; they are usually fantastic.
-Vine St. has Good Beer.
Vine St. features the delicious beers of the Mountain Sun brewery and a selection of guest beers on tap, including two on a nitrogen tap which gives the beer a smoothness similar to a Guiness. We have two favorites of the Mountain Sun brews. The Annapurna Amber is a delicious beer that is dark, strong, and has the potential to convert a casual light beer drinker to a dark beer lover. The Colorado Kind Ale is very delicious and full of hops. This is a classic Colorado microbrew and would well-deserve a home in all Colorado bars. Even if you don’t like a strong hoppiness to your beer, try this one out when you get a chance–you might be surprised by how much you like it.
-Vine St. has Good music.
Usually the background music is great, but on Saturdays and Sundays patrons are treated to a couple treats. On Saturdays from 10pm-1am you can listen to or join in on an Open Bluegrass Pick. A small group of people usually come to jam–bluegrass style–on guitars, banjos, and even an upright bass. Anyone can join in. On Sundays from 10pm to 1am patrons are treated to Live Music from various local and national musicians. Unless you’re in the band, for those acts stick to the air guitar.
-Vine St. has Good deals.

-Vine St. has Good people.
With everything mentioned above, it’s no wonder that Good people love to go to Vine St. But for some added reasons, Vine St. also has board games you can use at your table such as Scrabble and Boggle, they have outdoor seating for when the weather is warm, and when there is a wait for tables don’t be surprised to be offered a free sample of one of Mountain Sun’s many fine ales.
My only complaint? Credit cards are not accepted. You can use cash or checks only (but there is an ATM inside).
