Good Cheap Denver Burritos: Socorro’s
Socorro’s is not the kind of place you go for a fancy sit down dinner, nor is it a place where you’d go for happy hour margaritas. The restaurant is a small hole in the wall that doesn’t have a liquor license, is far from fancy, and barely has enough room for two small groups to comfortably dine in. The one person on staff does everything–he’s the cook, cashier, waiter, and cleaner. Nonetheless, Socorro’s is worth your visit.
I go to Socorro’s for the burritos. They are dirt cheap and delicious. A substantive burrito with meat, beans, rice, and cheese is only $3.99, and adding green chile sauce inside brings the grand total to a whopping…$4.99. I also get the chips and salsa from Socorro’s. The salsa is awesome, and there are definitely enough chips for two people to share. Though I’m writing this article to recommend the burritos from Socorro’s, you should probably know that the restaurant is actually best known for its street tacos. At $2.49 each or 3 for $6.99, the tacos are reasonably priced, hefty, and generate loads of positive reviews. But I think the burritos are a better bang for your buck.
If you’re looking for a place to grab a bite to eat before a movie at the Mayan or a show at the Hi-Dive, try out Socorro’s. Just be sure to save enough room for some Sweet Action ice cream for dessert when your movie or show is complete…
