Labor Day weekend in Denver is always Good.  It is the best time of year to do winter gear shopping, as STEEP discounts on last year’s ski and snowboard inventory clear the shelves for all of this year’s new gear.  Some of the sales have already begun, and many start this weekend.  There are also lots of Good events taking place this weekend as well, such as the 30th annual A Taste of Colorado festival in Civic Center Park (free), 3 nights of Phish at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (worth the price of admission but not cheap, though the webcast will be), and more.  Below is a list of Good 2013 Labor Day Deals in Denver, and I hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday weekend!

Good 2013 Labor Day Deals in Denver:

  • REI (August 22-September 2): REI’s Fall Sale, which has already begun, offers 20% off Yakima and Thule car racks/boxes/gear, up to 30% off new outdoor gear and clothing, up to 40% off last year’s skis and snowboards, up to 50% off on clearance sandals, and REI-Outlet.com is featuring “Mega Deals” that are at least 50% off.
  • Powder Daze (August 23-September 3): Christy Sports’ sale is already in full swing and offers up to 70% off winter gear, daily deals, and if you buy a Copper Mountain/Winter Park 4 Pack at this sale (only $149!), you get 5th day free.  Same location as last year: 9555 East County Line Road, 80112 in Englewood.
  • SKI REX (August 30-September 3): Colorado Ski & Golf offers a huge sale featuring up to 75% off winter gear, similar to SNIAGRAB.  Click here to get a VIP invite, which you can use to shop the sale a day early (today), and here for a $10 off coupon.  This sale features the best kids’ deal around,  called Junior Trade-In, through which kids can rent a used snowboard/set of skis, boots, and bindings for $114.99 for the season, a snowboard kit for $99.99, or rent a set of new equipment for $199.99, and you get a 50% credit toward next year’s skis and snowboards as well!  Ski Rex’s signature event is located under a super-sized tent at Colorado Ski & Golf’s 2650 S. Havana location.
  • SNIAGRAB (August 31-September 15): SNIAGRAB is considered by many to be the best sale on winter sports gear in Denver–featuring up to 4-90% off previous years’ winter gear such as skis, snowboards, jackets, and gloves at Sports Authority’s Broadway location.  This year, in addition to the aforementioned Good deals, the store is offering additional cash cards on Saturday and Sunday.  $50 when you spend between $300-399, $75 when you spend $400-499, $125 when you spend $500 or more.  Also, they are offering bonus bucks to people who show up early in line each day…so get there early!
  • Epic Pass (Price guaranteed until September 2nd): Last year I wrote that the Epic Pass is the best ski pass in Colorado, period, and now it seems to be the best ski pass in the world, period.  $689 gets you unlimited access to Vail, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Heavenly (California), Northstar (Lake Tahoe), Kirkwood (Lake Tahoe), and new this year: Eldora (Colorado), Afton Alps (Minnesota), Mt. Brighton (Michigan), and 5 free days at Verbier, Switzerland, 5 free consecutive days at Arlberg, Austria and 5 free days at Les 3 Vallées, France.  If you don’t think you’ll use 10 days at Vail and Beaver Creek and don’t plan to travel out of state/country to ski, consider getting the Epic Local pass for $529 (just don’t plan to ski at either one of those mountains during select blackout dates, which you probably don’t want to do anyway).
  • Goodwill (September 2nd): Take 50% off nearly everything in any of the 23 metro area stores, and pray that gaper suits are still available!
  • Wilderness Exchange (Ongoing): Save up to 65% on overstocks, closeouts, and factory seconds.
  • The Clymb (Ongoing): The Clymb has a Labor Day sale on new summer gear, but really their gear is steeply discounted (up to 90% off) all year.  There are currently lots of Good deals to be had on tents, cookware, packs and accessories, sunglasses, hydration packs, shoes, climbing gear, and more!

Be safe this weekend–don’t drink and drive, get an Uber!  Uber is a mobile on-demand luxury car service that isn’t much more expensive than a cab and is super easy to use.  Click here for $10 off your first Denver Uber ride.
