Good Denver Concerts: Railroad Earth at the Fillmore January 17th, 18th

Railroad Earth is returning to Denver for a two-night run at the Fillmore on January 17th and 18th, and both shows should be a very Good time.

The band will be fresh off of the release of its latest new album, Last of the Outlaws, which comes out on January 14th (pre-order the album here, stream it for a limited time here), and it intends to celebrate.  If you’ve never seen Railroad Earth before, they are quite Good.  Some might call their music bluegrass, others might call it newgrass; still others might call it jamgrass.  Whatever you want to call it, get yourself some tickets to one or both of these shows sooner rather than later!  And if you’re feeling like seeing the band in a more intimate setting, join them at Twist and Shout on Colfax for an acoustic set at 5:30 on the 17th (more info here).   Below are clips from the band’s recent performance at Red Rocks last July:

RRE always puts on a Good show, and this run at the Fillmore will feature a couple Good openers as well.  The concert on the 17th will kick off with the up-and-coming Colorado-grown bluegrass band Head for the Hills, which has been gaining increasing local and national attention.  I’m even more pumped, though, for New Orleans-based guitarist Anders Osborne, who opens for Railroad Earth on the 18th.  It seems that there’s little music that comes out of New Orleans that I don’t love, and Anders Osborne certainly is no exception to the rule.  Check out the video below for a clip of his performance in May of 2012 at the Bluebird Theater here in Denver–featuring a tasty 10.5 minute jam to round out the song:

See you at the Fillmore!
