Good Denver Bar/Lounge: Cold Crush
There are few places in Denver where you can celebrate art, live music, food, and drinks at the same–not to mention getting a shot of wheat grass or a cup of freshly squeezed juice while you’re at it. I dropped in for lunch today and to check it out, and I have to say it’s a pretty cool spot.
Food: Cold Crush serves fresh sandwiches, soups, salads, entrees, and desserts for lunch and dinner, and the menu is Good. I had The Boss, a panini-style sandwich with slow roasted beef, cheddar cheese, sauteed onions, wild mushrooms, jalapeno peppers, and horseradish cream, served with a side of jalapeno chips. It was quite tasty (see below). Cold Crush also serves freshly squeezed juices, so that you can detox before you retox…
Music: Cold Crush features live music from some of the area’s best DJs, including regular performances from in-house DJs DJ Mu$a and Gypdahip. If you plan to come to Cold Crush on a Thursday-Saturday night, expect the place to be packed, especially after the recent award by Westword–and especially after Broncos games, when often Broncos players will also be in attendance. The bar has room for only 69 people, so expect it to get cozy…
Art: Every two months, Cold Crush features a new artist. The artist gets to paint a mural on the side of the building, and smaller artwork from the artist is featured inside the bar as well (which is available for purchase). This month’s featured artist is Jher, a street artist from Colorado.
If you’re looking for a centrally-located place to grab an afternoon beer, a freshly squeezed juice, a delicious sandwich, some live music, cool new art, or all of the above, check out Cold Crush!
