A Big Congratulations to the Women of the Women’s Bean Project

The Women’s Bean Project just might be my favorite local non-profit in Denver.  The organization, located near downtown in an old fire house at 32nd and Curtis, helps chronically unemployed women by giving them job training, skills, life coaching, stability, and support.  Instead of a one-time handout, they get the tools and skills needed to sustain themselves and their families for a lifetime.  A select group of the women also get a short-term job throughout the year preparing dry food mixes such as chilis, soups, cookies, brownies, and more.  Each product is signed by the woman who prepared it, and as you go up to the “store” on the upper level, you get to pass through the facility in which all of the women are preparing the goods.

I have loved getting to see and interact with the women every time I come to the WBP, and I love supporting the organization.  Earlier this week I was in to purchase some products for a client of mine who closed on his first home, and two of the women told me that they were graduating on Friday.  They were so proud to have made it through the year, and I was touched to be invited me to attend the ceremony.  Sadly, I’ll be in an all-day master’s class on Friday so I won’t be able to attend, but giving them a big shout-out here is the least I can do!

Congratulations to all the women who are graduating tomorrow.  I wish you all the best of luck, and I hope to have the chance to see you around Denver as you experience success moving forward.  Readers, if you’ve never been to the Women’s Bean Project, I strongly encourage you to visit and sample some of the products.  The Women’s Bean Project is a phenomenal organization making a great impact in Denver–and it doesn’t hurt that the products are delicious!
